Tribute to Amy, a wonderful mother
Mom,
How do I even begin? First off, you are the bomb! I just wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate all you have done for me. I am pretty sure that most moms don’t find much pleasure in being poked in the ribs all day, but you did. I am also sure that most moms don’t really look forward to the frequent bathroom trips in the middle of the night, but you did. I know that most moms don’t look forward to gaining 30-some pounds, but you loved every ounce. Why? Because you are not like most moms. You are my mom and God could not have chosen better for me.
I know that we won’t get to spend as much time together as you’d like, but don’t worry, I will be very well cared for at my new place. Since my time is so short, I won’t get to tell you all the things that your other babies will, but I wanted you to know that I experience your love just as much as they do. In fact, I feel pretty special because you knew that you had to treasure every little jab, kick, and hiccough.
I know how difficult it was for you when your doctors told you that I wouldn’t be able to stay with you very long after my birthday. I also know that you had other options besides gaining weight, being kicked in the ribs, and getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. For that, I thank you immensely. I know it won’t last long, but my life is important to me. I know that I won’t get to experience a lot of the things a mother hopes for her child, but know that I have already experienced the most important thing, a mother’s love.
Until we meet again,
your sweet babe, Jeremiah David
(Editor’s Note: Jeremiah David was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 17th, after surpassing all expectations by surviving three days, to his parents joy and delight.)
